Every hour, 50 people die; cause of death: tobacco; which is present in Cigarettes, cigars, and pipe tobacco, etc.

Smoking tobacco products produce tobacco smoke which is made of more than 7000 chemicals, which are known to cause cancer. These cancer-causing chemicals are known as carcinogens. Chemicals present in tobacco smoke include Nicotine, Lead, Ammonia, Arsenic, Formaldehyde, CO (Carbon Monoxide), and Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs).

The harmful effects of tobacco can reduce the lifespan of a daily consumer by over a decade. Every year over 6 million people all over the world die from tobacco use, thus making it one of the leading preventable causes of premature deaths in the world.

While chewing tobacco and a few smokeless tobacco products is considered to be safer as compared to cigarettes or other smoked tobacco products this is often an enormous misconception. There are NO HARMLESS TOBACCO PRODUCTS.

Chewing tobacco is packaged as loose tobacco leaves which might be compressed into a little brick-like shape or braids of leaves. When tobacco is chewed, sucked on, or sniffed rather than smoke, nicotine is absorbed through the soft tissue within the mouth and may even be swallowed in some cases.

Nicotine is the major element that develops an addiction to tobacco in people. The level of nicotine circulating within the bloodstream is that the same for people that smoke also as those that use chewing tobacco. The harmful effects of nicotine are higher with smokeless tobacco because it is used more often than smoked tobacco, causing a higher level of dependence in users.

Using chewing tobacco like Khaini and similar smokeless tobacco products makes you more prone to oral cancers. These include cancers of the mouth, cheek, throat, gums, lips, or tongue, oesophagus, pancreas etc. Withdrawal from smokeless tobacco causes intense symptoms like sudden cravings, increased appetite, irritability, restlessness and mood swings.

Due to the deadly health conditions that using chewing tobacco and other tobacco products have, the World Health Organisation (WHO) has dedicated May 31st as World No Tobacco Day.

When there are people associated with you, it becomes necessary to be cautious. With so many harmful side effects of tobacco, it is important that you give up on this start having a healthy and safe life. Your health should be your top-most priority. You better focus on that and take care of yourself.
